- Second Sunday in September: in the quarter of Ovolaccio Sagra di San Basilio
- Last Sunday in October: literary award Montanaru (cultural manifestation in memory of the illustrious local poet Antioco Casula)
- During the festivity of All Saints (November): the festival "the Mountain produces"; promotion and tasting of local products.

The Town Typical mountain town located on the western side of the massif of the Gennargentu, between the profound rich valleys of water sources, surrounded by century old ilex woods, durmasts, chestnuts, walnuts and cherry trees. It still preserves today its old and suggestive characteristic of a typical mountain town, inhabited by simple, generous, hospitable people with their typical coarse woollen fabric costumes. At the beginning of the century the town was known in the whole island as a famous mountain resort, characterized by rustic houses in schist with long wooden balconies and by cobbled paved paths. The town was inhabited by the transhumant shepherds and pedlars who travelled around the whole island selling chestnuts, walnuts and their precious wooden handmade crafts, such as "is truddas" and "is taggeris". Today the town is divided into three districs: Asuai, Ovolaccio and Issiria connected by the houses all along the main road. All of the three have kept their true identity that can be especially seen in the celebration of the village festivals. In the Issiria district it is is possible to visit the church of Santa Croce, admire the beautful wooden works and baroque style frescoes and the church of Sant'Antonio Abate (dating to late-Gothic tradition of the XV century), with an important and esteemed wooden pulpit. In the Assuai district it is possible to visit the old town centre, with the typical houses built with schist stones; in the Ovolaccio district Museum ethnographic “Casa Montanaru” ought to be visited. HISTORICAL NEWS Traces of the first inhabitants date back to the Nuraghi period. It is possible to visit different nuraghes among which "Ura 'e sole", one of the tallest in the island (1331 metres). Spano dates the origin of the name of the town of Desulo back to the Roman period B.C. known with the name of Exulum. This was confirmed by the signature of "Niccolò Mele, Majore Ville de Desilo" that appeared in the peace treaty between Eleonora di Arborea and the King of Aragona. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Rulers of Arborea (Curatoria of the Mandrolisai) then passed to the Aragonese.
