THE
ARCHAEOLOGICAL
MUSEUM The
archaeological district museum of Teti is located in a building in the
old part of the town. Opened in 1990 it preserves the material found in
the territory of the Comunità Montana n.12 and in particular from
the village-sanctuary of S'Urbale and of Abini

Besides the finds in bronze and numerous pottery vessels, it is possible to admire the reconstruction of one of the huts of the nuraghi village of S'Urbale. |

The
Nuargic village of S'URBALE, The nuragic village of S'Urbale,
a few kilometres away from the town, consists of about 50 huts. The old
settlement is at a height of about 900 metres and dominates the valley
of the river Taloro. During the excavations fictile and lytic objects
and a considerable number of ceramic materials were recovered that allow
to reconstruct the more significant aspects of everyday life of the people
living in the nuraghi. Instruments for weaving and making cereals were
also found. The internal diameter of the hut is considerable; the central
space still preserves a fire place with a clay layer that was periodicly
changed. The village was abandoned because of a violent fire.

The nuragic village of ABINI It is located about 15 km from the town. It is a vast complex of round huts with an enclosure for meetings and a well. It was certainly destined for religious uses, probably the cult of water. A great quantity of bronze materials were found: votive swords, some of which surmounted with cervine "protomi", daggers, numerous brooches, bracelets and rings, many bronze figurines representing crowds of offerers, archers and warriors, soldiers, of which the most famous is that representing a demoniac being or a heroic warrior, with four eyes, four arms and a double shield. The great number of finds (more than 750 pieces) and their typology, make believe the importance of this village-sanctuary in of the nuraghi period. |
